Day 1 Konnichiwa from Osaka

It has been ages since I blogged about my travels. In 2013, I extended my work trip to Korea, then we went for a short family trip to Bali again. In 2014, we took a family vacation to Tokyo after 10 years and I totally fell in love with the country.

So in 2015, we decided to go back to Japan but via Osaka instead. It seems like the whole of Singapore had also chosen to descend on Japan this year.

Our traveling party comprise my parents in law, brother in law and girlfriend as well as an army mate/vendor. Apparently my CEO is coming here too during the same period.

This has been a much awaited trip for both Theo and myself. We have really worked like dogs this year and there can be no better way than to end the year with a journey back to sushi land.

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go.

Singapore Airlines had a fairly good promotion with their multi city package, flying into Osaka and out from Tokyo for $680 all in.

Airport clearance at Kansai Airport was very smooth so we had no issues getting on board the last Nankai rail train which leaves at 2236, even though we only landed at 2120. We bought the Yokoso Osaka ticket for ¥1500 per adult which consist of a limited express train to town and a day pass for the subway in Osaka.

I also downloaded this super handy maps app Map.Me which enables me to use GPS to find my way around without having to tap on data. With this, I don’t have to worry about finding our way around Japan. We managed to locate our Airbnb accommodation without much problems and boy am I happy with the apartment which is well equipped and spacious.

It is also sited in a fairly rustic neighbourhood near Nipponbashi Den Den Town and a shopping street. Looking forward to a good start tomorrow.

And now I shall tuck in to my ramen supper. Cheers!
