Day 6 No Castle in the Sky

I was quite disappointed with the lack of clouds this early dawn to make my trip worthwhile. The innkeeper told us that August was the best time to see the stunning view so I really didn’t have much chance to begin with. Thereafter we decided to make the 800 step climb up to see the ruins of the Takeda Castle. Having just read up about the Sengoku period in Japan, I was quite intrigued to actually be in the location of one such war zone.

From Takeda we headed southward to end our road trip back in Kyoto. Our first stop in Kyoto was the Fushimi Inari temple with its thousand torii gates. This time I would be able to fully indulge in this ancient city that made the Shinsengumi famous. I visited the Ikedaya Inn and also Sanjohashi Bridge. Hakuoki was the first otome I ever played and the tragic storyline continue to haunts me and will always be my favourite otome game of all time especially with its romanticising of the last samurais.
