Tears of Themis – Vyn’s Birthday Event ‘Reciprocal Hearts’ (end)
Vyn’s birthday falls on 27th September and for those of you who are Vyn stans, you’ll be happy to know that he is the first ToT character’s birthday that we will celebrate. Unfortunately Marius’ birthday was in June just before the game was launched globally hence it will be a looooong time before I get to celebrate his birthday. Though lucky for my wallet since I’ve used up most of my S-chips in the recent Lost Gold event.
The event will run between 23 September till 3 October for a total of 10 days. Lucky guy, how many of us celebrate our birthdays over 10 days?! Here are a few things to look out for during this event –

Conduct field investigations (ala debate battles) using Student Directory to progress the story. Only Vyn cards can be used in these investigations and you can only conduct a maximum of 11 investigations per day. The power requirements for these battles range from 9,346 to 25,254. Each time you use the Student Directory, it unlocks 4 new contacts/battles on the map. Alternatively, you can wait 1hr for new contacts to appear.

Vyn also has a birthday event SSR card and I have to admit that he looks great in a tuxedo! He’s currently vying against Artem for second place in my books. Birthday exclusive Shadow of Themis has its own banner and the guaranteed count will carry over to the next birthday-limited banner. I’m tempted to spend the 10 visions I earned from doing countless mediations in Lost Gold event for this… or I may just save it for the Symphony of the Night event which is likely to take place around Halloween.

1 Sep: Vyn’s birthday is coming end of the month and you want to celebrate it. He had shared that his birthdays have only brought him unhappy memories so you wanted to change that. In order to give him the best surprise, you requested to work as his teacher assistant on the pretext of learning more about psychology so you can do better as an attorney but actually with the secret intent to identify the perfect gift.
Vyn assigns you instead to help him with the evaluation of his public course “Twenty Lectures on Psychology” and his university module “Introduction to Psychology” among his students. To achieve your original intent, you decided to vary the questionnaire slightly.
5 Sep: With the suggestion of some of the students, you checked out a spot in the campus garden and decided to reserve the venue for Vyn’s birthday celebration. It would be the perfect garden tea party venue. Later you visit Vyn to update him on your progress on the evaluations. Vyn invites you to join him for a walk in the garden as he has heard that some students are decorating the place for an event. Panicking wildly that your secret would be exposed, you insisted on not going. Thereafter you made a hasty exit, not knowing that Vyn is onto you when he accidentally spied a push notification on your phone.

11 Sep: After consulting with some of his students, you decided to get Vyn a plant for his birthday. While waiting for the florist to wrap it up, you hear a familiar voice behind you and it was none other than Vyn. He had recently bought a membership here and came to pick up some items for his garden. At this moment, the florist presented you with the gift causing Vyn to raise his eyebrows. You quickly told him it was a gift for a friend who loves gardening hoping to end the conversation but Vyn decided to pry further about this friend, on the pretext of inviting him to join a gardening club. You finally managed to worm your way out of the conversation without revealing the truth of the present and bade Vyn farewell.
I’m sure Vyn has already caught on to your birthday surprise and is enjoying seeing you squirm!
20 Sep: Vyn invites you to attend one of his seminars and you’re happy to be given front row seats as his teacher assistant in the crowded hall. After another splendid delivery to the applause of the attendees, a lady walks up to Vyn to present him with a intricately put together bouquet of roses. However Vyn tells her that he doesn’t accept gifts from his students and politely tells her to direct her admiration elsewhere. With that he walks towards you with a gentle expression. You asked him if he didn’t like the bouquet and he told you he neither liked nor disliked it. You wonder if Vyn would accept your gift and those collected from his students.
Later Vyn treats you to dessert at a nearby café to thank you for your hard work. You noticed that this is the second time Vyn has order chocolate matcha cake and thus decided to bake this flavour of cake for his birthday.
27 Sep: After completing the evaluations and putting the final touches to the birthday venue, you invite Vyn to his surprise birthday party. He is touched by your gesture and asked you about each and every decoration. Specifically he mentions you writing happy birthday in French on the sign which can only point to Vyn being of French descent/origin (?). You told him that you have also collected many well wishes and gifts from his students and insist that he accepts them. He dutifully agrees.
Later he sits down to enjoy the cakes and tea that you have prepared. You commented that the whole set up is beginning to resemble the garden in his house. When he asked you why you did all this for him, you reminded him of your promise to spend his birthdays with him, so that he can create happy memories of birthdays and replace the unpleasant ones.
After he made his birthday wish and promised to tell you when it comes true, he reveals that he already know about your preparations from the very beginning but he didn’t want to tell you because he couldn’t ruin your goodwill and he also wanted to look forward to the surprise, whether his expectations could be satisfied by your intent and considerations. He acknowledges that birthdays can indeed be a joyous occasion.
“I used to dislike birthdays because I opposed the intractable displays of ostentatious wealth and hypocritical kindness.” I guess Vyn comes from some line of nobility if that’s how his birthdays are celebrated. “Because of you, I can once again look forward to birthdays and their significance… or perhaps not only birthdays. For me, every day with you is worth looking forward to. Moreover you have been trying to better understand me through others, wanting to know what I want most. But would it not be more accurate if I told you such things myself? Your sincere feelings are my most precious gift.”

List of Interviews – Getting to know Vyn better
#1 Dr Angelo, your old neighbour (you met him previously in Luke Episode 1). He has only positive things to say about Vyn and his grasp of the field but doesn’t know what young people like today. He also advised you to drink more hot water when you ask about the themos in his hand.
#2 A lady in a ponytail dressed to kill with expensive Pax earrings. She looks up to Vyn as a role model as he had encouraged her to pursue her dreams and goals even when others told her she was naïve. She suggested getting Vyn a tie.
#3 A bartender. He has positive reviews about the course and has learnt much from it. He thinks Vyn is professional, knows his stuff and is popular among his students. He also gifts you with a bottle of wine for Vyn and invites you to come by the bar with Vyn sometime.
#4 Jason, whom you met and helped in Marius’ storyline. Jason attended the public course to find artistic inspiration in the human psyche. Though he has difficulty understanding some parts of the content, he has still learned much. Jason feels that Vyn is of a very different color from others – beautiful, noble and unapproachable. He suggested a surprise party to celebrate a birthday.
#5 A brunette who feedback that she would like a more specialised course so that she can learn more. She commends Vyn for being both knowledgeable and being able to teach well.
#6 A young man in a cast who majors in sports. He had sustained the injury during a training. He gave the course a 4 out of 5 rating with the only feedback that the course isn’t held frequently enough which makes it hard for athletes to attend. He finds the classes interesting and likes that Vyn is generous with grades.
#7 Ingrid from Baldr Law Firm. She was amused to learn that you are working as Vyn’s teaching assistant. She feedback that the course is very practical but would have preferred if she could have more opportunities to speak with the professor in private. She adds that Vyn is one of her favourite kind of guys and refuses to tell you what she thinks he would like. Ermmmm…
#8 A pirate cosplayer. He has only attended two of the lessons as he is very busy. With regards to Vyn, while he looks like a gentleman, he also has a completely different side, a cold unfeeling disposition, to him.
#9 A student wearing headphones and has a nasty mouth. His only feedback is to hold it more often as he found it an inconvenience to snatch the slots. Though he doesn’t admit it, he appears to like Vyn for being a good lecturer who can hold his attention. He is also aware that Vyn’s birthday is coming and that he frequents a bookstore on campus.
#10 An exhausted student who had been playing games all night at a cybercafe. He likes the course but hopes that the tests could be easier as he is unable to attend all lessons since he needs to support his gaming teammates. He likes Vyn because he doesn’t do roll calls during lessons.
#11 Harry, your client from episode 3. Harry would like the content for Twenty Lectures on Psychology to be deeper as he has interest to pursue it further as a degree and he has been acing the course. His rationale for taking the course is because he wants to learn more about the human mind to protect Joey, his sister. He thinks Vyn is a great teacher who encourages him to speak up and advises him professionally. Harry thinks Vyn likes black tea, the finest imported tea in Stellis. In terms of how to celebrate a birthday, he suggested inviting a live band and having a three-tier cake. (Obviously a rich man’s son).
#12 Vera’s classmate. She likes the course though she doesn’t know much about psychology, seems like she’s mainly here for Vyn’s charms. Vyn is one of her favourite teachers because of the help he has given to Vera and has recommended interesting reference books to them. She suggested getting him a water bottle so that he can drink during lessons to sooth his throat, especially the tea that he enjoys.
#13 Winnie, whom you helped in the episode 1 (is everyone attending Vyn’s lectures?). She likes the course though she isn’t a psychology major and has never missed a lesson. She thinks Vyn is rather mysterious with a sort of regalness about him. She suggested getting him a classical music record as a gift as Vyn likes classical music.
#14 An angry student carrying a dog as someone had just stepped on her dog. She likes the course and thinks all students should, however she was upset that Vyn did not choose her to be his teacher assistant instead. She thinks all students should like Vyn as well. As for presents, a cute fluffy puppy would be irresistible for him.
#15 The vice-president of Vyn’s fan club among the students. She attends the class simply for him, what else? He has been voted as the Most Handsome Professor this year. They have a secret birthday celebration for him and she knows that Vyn loves roses.
#16 Vera next whom Vyn had helped during his personal story. She has learnt alot about psychology from the classes but thinks it’s hard to get A because of the open-ended questions at the end. Vyn wants to encourage his students to have think independently. Vyn’s courses are very popular and she had to stand for an entire lecture once because there were no more seats left.
#17 A male student who is part of the Photography Association. He likes the course because Vyn allows him to do whatever he wants during classes. He is envious that Vyn is very popular with the girls. He presents a set of 10 postcards that are pictures of the university’s famous sites to Vyn. He also offered his photography services for Vyn’s birthday party.
#18 One of Vyn’s male students who helped Vera take revenge on her PUA. He is a psychology major so naturally he would take this course. He thinks Vyn is respectful, caring and willing to listen students’ ideas. However he feels that it is hard to understand how Vyn thinks.
#19 A student in drama club who plays the role of a warrior. He gives Vyn’s course a score of 10. He feels that Vyn is like a warrior who fights for justice and had once recommended him to read the book ‘Legend of Ancient Warriors’.
#20 Jen who was Celeste’s personal assistant back in Episode 2. She thinks that the course is beneficial to help her understand the human psyche and wished she learnt about it earlier so she could stop Janus. She thinks Vyn is a good professor whom she respects.
