Tears of Themis – New Home Day (new feature)

It seemed like Mihoyo must have taken feedback from its players very seriously and in a bid to make everyone happy, they launched a series of new features on 13 Oct. The home screen has also changed quite a bit but it won’t take long to find your way around it. Here are the new features added to the game –

  1. Fieldwork – a new permanent feature with never-ending list of client cases to debate on so as to increase your firm’s reputation in the various precincts in Stellis City. While I’m glad for other things to do, it would have been great if the gameplay could be slightly different from debates. I mean I am satisfied with the current daily routine of going through the daily tasks to max my S-chips, while cycling through all the other daily quests I have on other otome games and my day job. I felt that Mihoyo has already done a great job with its monthly main event and I’m happy to have a breather in between them. Anyhow, the only thing I like about this new feature is working up the ladder to get new attires for the boys.
  2. Birthday settings – yay to this feature, boo that it had to come about a month after my birthday. Thankfully Mihoyo has graciously given all of us a birthday reset coupon so those whose birthdays have passed can still celebrate it belatedly with their boys before resetting it to its actual correct day for next year’s celebration.
  3. Achievements – to reward everyone for working hard on grinding, more ladder of rewards such as weekly missions as well as global achievements when you collect x number of cards for each character, reach certain overall power level, or attain a certain level. I know Mihoyo loves to give us S-chips to make us happy and this is just another way to sweeten the deal.
  4. Lounge system – another permanent feature which enables you now to decorate and customise your NXX HQ lounge and see the chibi versions of the boys relaxing. Tapping on them also makes them say some cute stuff so this adds a nice touch and personalisation to the game.

From 13 Oct until 27 Oct, complete daily event tasks to earn blueprints for the 12-piece ‘Wooden Style’ set made up of various furniture. You also earn a Leisure Time badge for getting all the blueprints. After earning the blueprint, you will still need to have the exquisite lumber to make those items.

Unfortunately getting your hands on those lumber turn out to bit harder than expected as we are limited to 3 home improvement missions daily. In order to create all the 12 items, you will need a total of 600 planks of lumber. With the daily limit on home improvement missions and 14-day countdown, you can max earn 252 planks. Event tasks give a max of 110 planks, while Home Deco exchange rate is pathetic. What this means is that you’ll be compelled to spend real money or use S-chips to unlock more home improvement missions! I estimate about 1,000 S-chips. I’m not very sure it is worth it.

The best news though that I’ve received after a rather depressing week at work is that Symphony of the Night event will be coming next week 20 Oct (!) and Hoyo Fest Cafe decorated according to Tears of Themis will be coming to Singapore! Woots! This means it’s even more important for me to save my S-chips for SSR Marius card.

Update! So I did eventually complete the whole Wooden Style set because I have OCD tendencies. It took me an additional 300 S-Chips thanks to additional planks given out from other achievements. In addition, I managed to pull Marius’ SSR card within 20 pulls (because it rolled over from the Mysteries of the Lost Gold event) so I can afford to be a bit more generous in this event. Now my lounge looks all decked up and the boiz are happily relaxing thanks to my hard work.

Actually I learnt that after the event you can still continue to earn Home Deco vouchers simply by completing daily quests in order to complete crafting the furniture that you have the blueprint for. Well, this would have certainly been a useful information to communicate to players…
